What is a gantry crane or semi-gantry crane?
A gantry crane is an industrial lifting installation that stands on its own legs and moves over rails on the floor. In contrast to an overhead crane, this crane is not dependent on the building structure, making it ideal for outdoor use or in halls without a suitable supporting structure.
A semi-gantry crane is a combination of an overhead crane and a gantry crane: one side runs on a rail on the floor or directly on the concrete floor slab, while the other side runs on a higher rail attached to the building structure. This makes it possible to use space efficiently, for example along a wall or passage.
Gantry cranes are often used for heavy loads, large spans and applications where flexibility and independence from the structure are important.
